Who Is Ted Koppel?

Ted Koppel (born February 8, 1940) is a television journalist in the United States.

Koppel was born in Lancashire, England after his parents fled Germany due to the rise of Hitler and the Nazis. He graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science degree and from Stanford University with a Master of Arts degree in mass communications research and political science.

Koppel started working at ABC in 1963, and served as a foreign correspondent for the network. He is most famous for serving as the lead anchorman for ABC's Nightline starting in 1980. Koppel announced that he will leave his post in December 2005, but will not retire; he is instead looking into other projects.
