1987,
making
him
the
longest-serving
defense
secretary
to
date.
He is
also
known
for
his
related
roles
in the
Strategic
Defense
Initiative
program
(popularly
known
as Star
Wars),
and in
the
Iran-Contra
Affair,
and as
Chairman
of
Forbes
Magazine.
